Digitalised energy systems
Research topics of the department
The working group Digitalized Energy Systems conducts research on how digital technologies, data-driven methods and intelligent algorithms can support the transition towards sustainable, resilient and flexible energy systems. The group addresses challenges emerging from the growing integration of renewable energy sources and decentralised energy resources in future energy infrastructures. The groups' research focuses on:
- Digital solutions for future energy systems, including advanced data analytics and intelligent algorithms to enable sustainable and resilient energy infrastructures.
- Optimisation and AI-based coordination approaches for distributed flexibility options such as batteries, heat pumps, electric vehicles, and prosumer households, supporting smart grid operation and future energy markets.
- Open science in energy research, with a particular emphasis on FAIR data and research software, including metadata standards, interoperable ontologies, and simulation tools to foster efficient and reproducible energy systems research.
