Work on the UMO

University Medicine Oldenburg (UMO) ensures medical care and the training of young medical professionals in north-western Germany through a cooperative model. UMO comprises School VI of the University of Oldenburg and four selected partner hospitals in the region: Oldenburg Hospital, Oldenburg Protestant Hospital, Karl Jaspers Clinic in Bad Zwischenahn and Pius Hospital Oldenburg. School VI is divided into five Departments:

With its cross-disciplinary model degree programme in human medicine, UMO offers a unique model for students by combining practice and theory early on in their studies. In addition to the human medicine degree programme, School VI offers eight medical-related Master's programmes ranging from audiology to neuroscience, neurocognitive psychology, health services research and nursing sciences.

In addition to teaching, UMO is also extensively involved in research – from basic research to clinical practice and the everyday lives of patients. An overview of UMO's research strengths can be found here.

With our vision "HealthCare4all", we are establishing a sustainable healthcare region in the north-west that is tailored to people's needs. To achieve this, we are developing technical innovations and personalised solutions and putting them into practice to improve the health of people in the north-west – in both urban and rural areas.

We are supported in this endeavour by the entire region, including the surrounding business and political communities and healthcare institutions. You can find more information here.

University Medicine Oldenburg, together with the university and its four partner hospitals, is one of the largest employers in the region – and continues to grow! Starting in the 2026/2027 winter semester, 200 medical students will be trained at UMO each year. Supported by additional master's degree programmes in health sciences and medical-related fields, we are fulfilling our social responsibility and shaping the future of medicine for the benefit of our patients through excellent research and teaching and modern patient care.

It's a big task, but together we can do it – especially with your support!

What sets us apart from other employers:

  • As a young university medical centre that is still in the process of being established, we offer many opportunities to shape the future and room for your own ideas – including yours!
  • An appreciative and family-friendly environment where work-life balance is a top priority!
  • Social responsibility through meaningful work for the health of our patients!
  • State-of-the-art research in the field of hearing research and neurosensory science through our clusters of excellence, collaborative research centres and graduate schools!

Have we sparked your interest? Then come on board and become part of University Medicine Oldenburg!
