If you have already successfully completed a degree programme at a German university, you are considered a second degree applicant. Admission to a second degree programme is restricted and the number of study places is limited to a maximum of 3 percent.

If you wish to undertake a second degree in medicine for academic reasons, you will need a report from the higher education institution listed as your first choice in your initial application. The institution will send the report directly to Hochschulstart.

The deadlines for applying for the assessment depend on when you completed your first degree. If you completed your first degree after 15 January of the relevant year, the application deadlines for ‘new A-level graduates’ apply; if you completed your degree before 16 January of the relevant year, the deadlines for ‘previous A-level graduates’ apply. As this is the deadline for submitting documents in Dortmund, please note that you must submit your proposal for the assessment to the university well in advance.

In Oldenburg, you can only commence your degree programme in the respective winter semester. To ensure that the assessment report reaches Hochschulstart by the deadline, please send us the documents six weeks before the deadline. Please send the documents to:
