Notes Change to Master

Information for students switching to the Master's programme in winter semester 25/26

If you have applied for a Master’s programme for the winter semester 25/26, you will only be able to take part in the registration process once you have been admitted to the Master’s programme and your status has been updated accordingly in Stud.IP. (This also applies to students whose application for special consideration has been approved!)*

This may be after the lottery has taken place; incidentally, the lottery is also designed to give priority to students in higher semesters.*

In this case, you have the option of enrolling in courses that are not fixedly linked to another course (generally, this applies to almost all courses under ger780/880 and ger790/890, as well as all courses under ger771/800 [ger771/800 is only offered in the winter semester!]) to enrol in courses with available places or join the waiting list immediately after your admission/transfer has been processed in Stud.IP. Registration will not close until 17 October 2025. (Experience shows that there is always a great deal (really: a great deal!) of movement on the waiting lists, so even if you are further down the waiting list, you still have a chance of moving up to the attendance list by the end of the second week of the course).

  • Lectures are not subject to any participant limits. You can attend these in any case.
  • Students taking ger771 should please note that the module must be completed within one semester and is only offered in the winter semester.
  • Students on the ger800 course should please note the enrolment requirements set out in the subject-specific appendix for German Studies applicable to them. Please also note that the ger800 course is only offered in the winter semester.

If you encounter any problems, please contact Ms Brören by email during the clearing phase.

* Please note the information regarding application deadlines in § 3 of the "Regulations on Admission to the Consecutive Master’s Programme in ‘German Studies’ (M.A.) at School III - School of Linguistics and Cultural Studies, University of Oldenburg”, which you can can .

Note for students who have applied for the M.Ed. Wipäd or M.Ed. Sopäd

Students on the M.Ed. Wipäd and M.Ed. Sopäd programmes will initially undertake the advanced modules as part of their Master’s degree. As the advanced modules – with the exception of ger301 – also form part of the subject-specific structure for German Studies in the Bachelor’s examination regulations, you may still take part in the registration process even if you have not yet been activated for the M.Ed. Sopäd/Wipäd in Stud.IP.

However, you cannot yet select the aforementioned ger301 (Sopäd only) or ger771 (Sopäd/Wipäd). However, ger771 may only be taken after successful completion of ger242 (Sopäd) or ger246 (Wipäd) anyway.
Similarly, ger880/890 (Wipäd only) cannot yet be selected, as it is not part of the FSA in German Studies within the BPO. A prerequisite for taking this module is the successful completion of an advanced linguistics module (for ger880) or an advanced literary studies module (for ger890).
