Dear students,
Congratulations on your admission to the University of Oldenburg and a warm welcome to the Institute for German Studies!
We would like to help you find your way around and give you as much support as possible. Here is an overview of the most important information:
Orientation week: Information event
During the orientation week, there will be an information event for first-semester students in the Bachelor's degree programme in German Studies on Mon, 06.10.2025 from 13-15 hrs and on Tue, 07.10.2025 from 17-19 hrs. (The events start s.t., i.e. at 1.00 pm and 5.00 pm, not at 3.15 pm and 5.15 pm).

Please read the information very carefully and take into account the differentenrolment period for you.

This is because we have set the registration times for the courses relevant to you (basic modules lecture Thu, 09 October 2025 (seminars in ger010) and Fri, 10 October 2025 (seminars in ger020) so that you can create your timetable on the basis of the information event in the orientation week (see above). From 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. you can prioritise your courses and register via Stud.IP. The registration deadlines for the tutorials in ger010 are Sat, 18 Oct 2025 (ger010) and Sat, 11 Oct 2025 (ger020).

Hardship applications for first semester students
First-semester students can submit hardship applications until 12 noon on Wed, 08 October 2025. In addition to the documents requested under the following links, please enclose a scanned enrolment certificate with your proposal, stating that you are in your first semester of German Studies.
Only one hardship application must be submitted. This applies to both seminars and tutorials in ger010 and ger020.
