Study

Monterrey is located in the north-east of Mexico and is the capital of the Mexican state of Nuevo León. Around 1.5 million people currently live in the city. Monterrey is one of the most important industrial centres in Latin America and is considered one of the most attractive university cities in Mexico with various international universities. Monterrey is nicknamed "Ciudad de las Montañas" ("City of the Mountains") as the city is surrounded by mountains and its southern suburb of San Pedro Garza García is located in the Sierra Madre Oriental mountains. With the exception of occasional heavy downpours, the climate is largely dry. The average annual temperature is a pleasant 22 degrees Celsius.

The Universidad de Monterrey, which was founded in 1969, is currently (as of 2023) attended by almost 21,000 students, of which around 530 are international students. The UDEM offers 80 study programmes at Bachelor's and Master's level, with the focus for Oldenburg students being on degree programmes in economics. Nevertheless, other courses can also be attended at the UDEM.

Everyday life

Accommodation can be chosen as part of the enrolment process at UDEM. In addition to the accommodation available on campus, students also like to stay with local families or generally off-campus in order to facilitate private cultural encounters and deepen their language skills.
Information on accommodation

The general cost of living is around 200-250 euros per month. The university also offers a free transport system to the most popular destinations, which can be used by students.
