Study plan
Master's programme
Students may commence their studies in either the winter semester or the summer semester.
Courses that run over two semesters are self-contained and do not build on one another.
The typical study plan in accordance with the examination regulations of 21 October 2011 (applicable to all new students from the summer semester 2012 onwards) is set out in the table below. This study plan does not apply to students who were enrolled before the summer semester 2012 and are still studying under the old examination regulations of 8 February 2005.
Semester | Compulsory / Compulsory-elective modules | Total CP
0. |
Bridge semester (not applicable to students already holding a Bachelor’s degree in Hearing Technology and Audiology) | 30
1. | Fundamentals of Numerical Modelling (6 KP, 4 SWS) |
| Biomedical Physics and Neurophysics
| Advanced Project Placement | Acoustics and Signal Processing Part 1 (6 CP, 4 contact hours per week) | 30 |
2. | Theory I (6 CP, 4 contact hours per week) | Theory II | Biomedical Physics and Neurophysics
| Current Issues in Hearing Technology and Audiology (6 KP, 4 SWS) | Acoustics and Signal Processing Part 2 (6 CP, 4 contact hours) | 30 |
3. | Master’s thesis (27 CP) with final colloquium (3 CP) | 30
|
|
Total (Semesters 1–3) | 90
*) CP = credit points, SWS = weekly contact hours per semester
In accordance with the examination regulations, all modules are formally compulsory modules, as they must be taken
and students cannot make a selection between different modules as an alternative.
However, there are modules that consist solely of compulsory courses (highlighted in red) and modules at
where students can make a selection from a list of courses.
Bridge semester
A bridging semester is required for all students from a Bachelor's degree programme with 180 CP (6 semesters) and, as a rule,
for all lateral entrants from a degree programme other than Hearing Technology and Audiology.
The content of the bridge semester depends on the respective previous knowledge of the students and is largely compiled from
courses from the Bachelor's degree programme in Hearing Technology and Audiology at the Jade University of Applied Sciences Oldenburg. Please note that the corresponding courses at the Jade University of Applied Sciences usually begin before the start of the lecture period at the university, as the lecture period at the Jade University of Applied Sciences begins earlier than at the University of Oldenburg.
A typical structure for the bridge semester is as follows:
Semester | Compulsory / compulsory elective areas | Total CP
|
|
Bridge semester (courses only taken at the university of applied sciences)
|
| |||||
0. | Signal processing | Audio Technology and Acoustics | Audiology and Medical Physics | Acoustics | Practical course (5 CP) | Compulsory elective (5 CP) | 30 |
*) CP = credit points
