Virtual anatomy platforms

Virtual anatomy platforms

Currently (as of August 2022), the School licenses two 3D anatomy apps: 3D4Medical Complete Anatomy ( CA) and Human Anatomy Atlas/Visible Body (VB). The links to the apps are stored in the university's database information system (DBIS) under Department of Medicine.
To be able to use the app CA, a personal registration with your university email address is required after downloading the software. You can find a guide to registration and installation here.
Both apps provide a virtual 3D impression of the human body and offer useful information on the function of the various structures in info boxes. VB is purely a learning app for students' home use, while CA also allows teachers to create materials. While VB takes the user along intuitively, the diverse possibilities of CA require more intensive study of the tutorials provided here, but then rewards with a wealth of detail and useful functions. One example is the possibility to create sections through the model and thus make radiological images more topographically comprehensible. Our recommendation: try out both and find out what best supports your own learning.
