ELEVATE (Entrepreneurship Learning via Engagement and Team Education) combines entrepreneurship education with service learning in teacher training. Economics Education students design and realise project-based learning formats at cooperating schools over the course of a semester.
In these projects, pupils work on socially relevant issues in an age-appropriate and context-sensitive manner under the guidance of the students. The students are continuously supported by university lecturers and school mentors. Structured reflection formats such as portfolios, peer feedback and peer counselling ensure theoretical embedding and professional development.
A central feature of ELEVATE is the dual role of the students: They develop entrepreneurship education concepts at the university and at the same time put them into practice at school. In this way, they learn to promote entrepreneurial, creative and reflective behaviour together with pupils.
ELEVATE sees itself as a bridge between science-based economics education and social practice. The project strengthens the professionalisation of prospective teachers and contributes to the further development and modernisation of teacher training.
