Studied art history, comparative literature and philosophy at the Ruhr University Bochum and at the École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris. 2003 to 2005 research assistant in the research project "The Post-Communist Condition. Art and Culture after the End of the Eastern Bloc" at the Centre for Art and Media Karlsruhe. 2005 to 2012 research assistant at the Berlin University of the Arts, specialising in art studies and gender. 2012 to 2013 freelance academic editor for Wienand Verlag Cologne. 2013 to 2014 research assistant at the Institute for Art Studies at the Braunschweig University of Art. Since 2014 research assistant at the Institute of Art and Visual Culture at the University of Oldenburg. Teaching assignments in Vienna and Berlin; since 2016 editor at FKW // Zeitschrift für Geschlechterforschung und visuelle Kultur, www.fkw-journal.de. February to August 2018 administration of the professorship for cultural sociology at Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts; since August 2018 member of the DFG junior researcher network "Fat Studies - Doing, Becoming and Being Fat" together with Friedrich Schorb, Paula Irene Villa, Nina Mackert, Evangelia Kindinger and others.
PhD 2012 "Photography as practice. Social uses of early portrait photography using the example of Marie Bashkirtseff and the Countess of Castiglione" at the Braunschweig University of Art.
Research focus
Art and visual culture of the 19th to 21st centuries, fat studies, history and theory of photography, film and television theory, masquerade concepts, fashion and modernity.
