The Department of Medical Physics at the University of Oldenburg, under the direction of Prof Dr Dr Birger Kollmeier, is organising the conference of the exclusive "International Collegium for Rehabilitative Audiology" (ICRA) for the first time this year. Only the world's most renowned scientists whose work on the audiology of hearing aids or hearing implants has been particularly honoured are accepted into this association.

One of the aims of the conference is to establish new standards for assessing the success of hearing aid fitting in acoustically "difficult" situations, which will be discussed, accepted and disseminated internationally by the 30 participants. "As these are the opinion leaders in large parts of the (scientific) world, this conference in the idyllic setting of Seefeld in the Wesermarsch region offers the opportunity to arrive at globally accepted standards in the provision and rehabilitation of hearing aids," emphasises Kollmeier. "This will lead to more efficient and better hearing aids that provide individual patients with the best possible hearing gain, even in acoustically difficult situations."
