Physics Day

Medical physics provides insight at the Day of Physics

The Department of Medical Physics is taking part in the Day of Physics on Wednesday 28 October 2009 with a stand on the Ringebene in Wechloy, where pupils, teachers and other interested parties can find out about the field of hearing research. Between 9.15 a.m. and 3 p.m. there will be a variety of acoustic demonstrations and guided tours of 20 minutes each through the research laboratories. This also includes an insight into the work in the hearing laboratory, EEG introductions and psychoacoustic measurement of a listening threshold, which will be presented via loudspeakers.

This year's Physics Day will focus on the topic of space travel. After the award ceremony for outstanding specialist work by pupils from the region, Dr Rainer Reuter will give a lecture on "Remote Sensing of the Earth" at 10.45 am. This will be followed by further laboratory tours and a presentation of the physics degree programmes and Oldenburg's research activities. Prof Dr Andreas Engel will then give an insight into theoretical physics and talk about the "Physics of the Moon Landing".
