"Medical Campus University of Oldenburg" - this is the name that the Evangelical Hospital Oldenburg, the Oldenburg Clinical Centre, the Pius Hospital Oldenburg and the Karl Jaspers Clinic in Bad Zwischenahn will be able to use exclusively in future. This is governed by an agreement that was recently signed.
"The university has strong and reliable partners in these hospitals. They make a significant contribution to ensuring that the School of Medicine fulfils its tasks in patient-related teaching and research in an outstanding manner. With the award of the designation 'Medical Campus University of Oldenburg', the University of Oldenburg is not only expanding its location, but is also sending out a widely visible signal - for togetherness and trusting cooperation," explained Simon on the occasion of the signing.
"We - the three Oldenburg city hospitals and the Karl Jaspers Clinic - would like to use the 'University Medicine Oldenburg Medical Campus' to communicate the unity of University Medicine Oldenburg to the outside world," emphasised the Managing Director of Klinikum Oldenburg, Dr Dirk Tenzer, on behalf of the four hospitals. "The 'Medical Campus' encompasses research, teaching and patient care. The findings from current research are utilised in the clinics to develop the best possible therapy for patients. This means that we are not only making a significant contribution to the training of young doctors, but also providing university medicine at the highest level in our region."
The agreement was signed by University President Prof. Dr Babette Simon, the Management Board of the Protestant Hospital, Armin Sülberg and Dr Rüdiger Schönfeld, the Managing Director of Klinikum Oldenburg, Dr Dirk Tenzer, the Managing Director of Pius Hospital, Elisabeth Sandbrink, and the Managing Director of the Karl Jaspers Clinic, Axel Weber.
