Chamber victory for UOL apprentices

Eske Kranich completed her training in the mechanical workshops at the University of Oldenburg in the winter. She has now won the German Championship in Craftsmanship at chamber level.

Eske Kranich completed her training in the mechanical workshops at the University of Oldenburg in the winter. Now she has won the German Championship in the skilled trades at chamber level.

This means that for the third year in a row, the chamber victory in the precision mechanic apprenticeship went to apprentices from the mechanical workshops. The overall score in the journeyman's examination is decisive for the ranking. Particularly noteworthy: Kranich had shortened her training and brought the examination forward by one year.

At the award ceremony at the beginning of October, the Oldenburg Chamber of Crafts honoured a total of 41 young talents from training professions ranging from A for plant mechanic to Z for two-wheel mechatronics technician. The winners now have the chance to take part in the performance competition at state level.

For Eske Kranich, training at the university was a stroke of luck, as she says: "I had excellent support from a very committed trainer, as well as a great team with a lot of knowledge. As the mechanical workshops produce prototypes for research, the work is very varied and problem-solving orientated. We work with many different materials and tools - I even learnt how to weld."

The university-wide networking with trainees from other areas of the university has also been a great enrichment, says the Oldenburg native. She is now starting an engineering degree in Göttingen to deepen the planning side of mechanics - in the knowledge that she will benefit greatly from her skills and practical experience.

Update November 2025:
Eske Kranich also achieved an outstanding result in the performance competition at state level. She took first place. This qualified her for the 2025 German Metalworking Championships, which are organised by the German Metalworking Association. In the national "German Craft Skills" competition, she was once again able to demonstrate her excellent skills and achieve second place in the precision mechanics category.
