Friday evening, shortly after 5.30 p.m.: The entire façade of the university building V02 is emblazoned in large letters with slogans such as perception, expansion, basis, change processes and the sentence "I have seen". They are part of a light installation designed by Hamburg artist Sigrid Sandmann for the inauguration of the Lifelong Learning Campus (LLL Campus) at the beginning of December. Sandmann provided "illuminating insights" into science, education and academic appointments on Ammerländer Heerstraße. Her installation concluded the opening celebrations for the LLL campus, which were held under the motto "Knowledge creates spaces".
The new campus houses all those involved in advanced scientific training and lifelong learning under one roof and in bright, newly designed premises: The Centre for Lifelong Learning (C3L), the Department of Further Education and Education Management (we.b) of School I - School of Educational and Social Sciences and the Wolfgang Schulenberg Institute for Educational Research and Adult Education (ibe).
"The new campus is a visible sign of the University of Oldenburg's outstanding expertise in the field of lifelong learning," explained University President Prof Dr Babette Simon at the opening ceremony. The infrastructure of the new LLL campus was funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science (MWK).
"Particularly against the backdrop of demographic developments, it is important for universities to address new target groups with attractive educational programmes. Oldenburg is already well positioned and is going one step further with the new campus," said State Secretary for Science Dr Josef Lange. "The new rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology," added the Scientific Director of the C3L, Prof Dr Anke Hanft. "They enable us to use new media in teaching - in line with the latest didactic and methodological findings." Among the guests at the opening were further education experts Prof Dr Ada Pellert (German University for Further Education, Berlin), Prof Dr Andrä Wolter (Humboldt University Berlin) and Dr Roman Götter (Fraunhofer Academy, Munich). They discussed "Teaching and learning in the 24/7 age" with State Secretary Lange.
