For the tenth time, students and experts from academia and practice will meet at the university next weekend for the three-day NachDenkstatt. The conference is being held under the motto "Think. Act. Change.".
Breaking new ground and thinking boldly about sustainability; encouraging people to change their behaviour without proselytising - this is the aim of the NachDenkstatt. Once again this year, students and experts from politics, business and administration will come together at the university for this purpose. The core of the sustainability conference, which will take place from Thursday, 1 June to Sunday, 4 June in building A 14 at the university, will be three workshops.
Participants will learn, for example, why it can be an interesting thought experiment to imagine the world as a doughnut. Those who are more interested in the local aspects of climate change, sustainability and ecology will get their money's worth at the "Climate-neutral mobility in Oldenburg" workshop. The city's Mobility Plan 2030, for example, will be discussed. The third and final workshop will only take place on Saturday and is less scientific and more artistic. Under the title "Climate Justice in Spoken Word", participants can articulate their dreams, hopes and fears in relation to the ecological crises. To this end, participants will explore various writing techniques and genres of stage literature and produce a wide variety of texts that they can discuss with others and work on together.
The general aim of the sustainability conference is to work together to find concrete solutions to pressing social issues in the field of ecology - if possible in a transdisciplinary way, i.e. also taking into account non-scientific approaches from practice. The event, which is organised by students on a voluntary basis and alongside their studies, now enjoys a very good reputation beyond Oldenburg - this year, many people from other places are once again taking part in the conference. The NachDenkstatt was launched in 2012 by students on the Master's programme in Sustainability Economics and Management. With the exception of an enforced coronavirus break in 2020, it has been held every year since then.
The 16-strong organising team has divided up the upcoming tasks such as marketing, supporting programme, ticket shop design, finances, catering, logistics and workshop planning among themselves and once again put a lot of work into the conference. Those interested have until Friday, 2 June, to secure tickets for the NachDenkstatt online or in the Mensa foyers in Haarentor and Wechloy. In addition to the workshops, a varied programme awaits them: from a poetry slam on sustainability on Thursday to an "open market of opportunities" on Friday, a clothes swap party and a "screen printing session" to a "gala dinner" on Saturday evening.
