They remind us of certain experiences and phases of life - mementos. An exhibition by students at the University of Oldenburg focusses on their diverse forms, the reasons for their creation and storage as well as their identity-forming function.
"Memorabilia - What remains of experience" is the result of a two-semester student project at the Institute of History and can be seen as a special exhibition at the Heimatmuseum Schloss Schönebeck in Bremen until 30 August.
School days and working life, military service and war, travel, parties and balls - these occasions of materialised memory are examined in particular detail in the exhibition, which was created under the direction of Markus Evers and Prof. Dr. Rudolf Holbach. The chronological origin of the memorabilia on display ranges from the mid-19th century to the present day.
The exhibition at Museum Schloss Schönebeck (Im Dorfe 3-5, 28757 Bremen-Vegesack) is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm and on Sundays between 10.30 am and 5.00 pm. Admission costs 3 euros, for children 1 euro.
