Institute of History

History in research and study - in Oldenburg this subject is represented in its entire breadth: Antiquity, the Middle Ages, early modern times, the 19th to 21st centuries, modern Eastern European history and history didactics.

The Institute is characterised by internationally recognised research projects and co-operations, for example with the Landesmuseum Oldenburg, the Schifffahrtsmuseum Bremerhaven or the National Archives in London.

Students have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at European universities with which the Institute cooperates, for example in Stockholm, Florence, Torún, Sheffield, Johannesburg, Seoul or São Paulo.
