Experiencing art in a private living space and engaging in dialogue with the artists in an informal atmosphere - that is the core idea behind the "Zuhausausstellung" project launched by four Oldenburg students. They are inviting people to enjoy art in an Oldenburg flat for the first time on Thursday, 14 July.
"There are numerous museums and other institutional spaces in Oldenburg where art is open to the public - but there are few alternatives for getting to know the young art scene in particular," says Inga Müller. With the "Zuhausausstellung" project, she and her fellow campaigners Carina Blum, Dietmar Duprée and Alexa-Fabienne Noell want to offer young, less established artists a platform.
But why did they choose a flat as an exhibition space? "When we use private spaces, we also make the living concept visible - especially in combination with the artworks," explains Müller. The hallway in particular, which is often an unoccupied space, appeals to the home exhibition team. It is placed in a completely new context as an exhibition space. Another advantage: in a private setting, people interested in art can meet in an informal, unconventional setting and engage in dialogue more easily.
The idea came to the four project managers during a university seminar: "Project Management 1" led by Thomas Schneeberg. "The four of us are all very interested in art and exhibitions," says Müller. They launched an appeal and received numerous applications from young artists. In the end, they decided in favour of the artists Philip Bornemann, Freddy, Falk Helmbold and Dana Hubrich, who will present their works at the first "Zuhausausstellung". Further exhibitions are already being planned.
The first "Zuhausausstellung" will take place on 14 July from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Gaststraße 25, admission is free. The artists will be present and look forward to a lively exchange.
