"Technicians" wanted

Young women who are interested in the STEM subjects of Mathematics, Computing Science, Natural Sciences and Technology and want to find out more about studying and academic appointments are in just the right place at the "Niedersachsen Technikum": As "Technikatinnen", they can complete a six-month internship in a company and attend corresponding courses at the University of Oldenburg or the Jade University of Applied Sciences Wilhelmshaven/Oldenburg/Elsfleth at the same time.

Young women who are interested in the STEM subjects – mathematics, Computing Science, natural sciences and technology – and want to find out more about university studies and careers will find the ‘Niedersachsen Technikum’ the perfect place for them: As ‘Technikatinnen’, they can undertake a six-month work placement in a company whilst attending relevant courses at the University of Oldenburg or Jade University of Applied Sciences in Wilhelmshaven/Oldenburg/Elsfleth.

An information session for female students who have passed their (subject) A-levels, as well as for interested teachers and companies, will take place on Thursday 14 March at 4.00 pm at Jade University of Applied Sciences (Oldenburg campus, Room H-I 1, Ofener Straße 16). In Oldenburg, the University of Oldenburg and Jade University of Applied Sciences Wilhelmshaven/Oldenburg/Elsfleth offer the Technikum programme in collaboration with local businesses.

At the information session, Judith Bräuer from the central coordination office at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences will present the Lower Saxony Technikum. In addition, participants from Oldenburg and Wilhelmshaven will share their experiences.

The credits earned will be recognised towards the participants’ future degree programmes at the University of Oldenburg or Jade University of Applied Sciences. Weekly meetings, company visits and the opportunity to exchange ideas with other participants and women in STEM professions are designed to support A-level graduates in planning their career paths.

Free childcare is available during the event. Please register with Wiebke Oncken by email: wiebke.oncken@jade-hs.de or by telephone on 0441/7708-3376.
