Thesis, application, job interview: The eighth Career Day at the University of Oldenburg will focus on the transition from studies to academic appointments. The job and internship fair will take place on Tuesday, 9 May, from 10:00 to 15:00 in the university's lecture hall centre (Building A14, Uhlhornsweg 86). Under the motto "Attracting subjects and managers to the region", representatives from 49 regional and national companies will present themselves as employers and potential career fields for students and graduates in personal discussions. At the same time, experts from the world of work will be giving tips on job searches and applications.

At the exhibition stands in the foyer, interested parties can find out about the companies, their structure and possible career opportunities and make initial contact with HR managers. Companies from the energy, water supply and waste management, retail, banking and insurance, IT and telecommunications, management consultancy and legal, tax and examination system sectors will be represented.

From 10.00 a.m., presentations will take place every hour on the hour in room 1-112. To kick things off, career counsellor Dr Sebastian Pioch will introduce the art of career orientation and present the "trojanised" concept. Dr Berenike Gais, an employee of the University of Münster's Career Service, will explain how to keep track of the "jungle" of online job portals and find suitable offers. Three other presentations will focus on the application process: How do I read and interpret job adverts correctly? What salary prospects do I have with my degree? What can I expect in an assessment centre? Anyone who would like professional feedback for their application portfolio can receive brief personal counselling from HR experts in room 0-030. After prior online registration, interested parties can have professional application photos taken at a reasonable fair price.

In addition to the companies, the Oldenburg Employment Agency and the Oldenburg Job Centre will also be represented, as well as initiatives and institutions of the university: the Start-up and Innovation Centre (GIZ), the Graduate Academy and the student initiatives CARLO Consulting e.V. and MARKET TEAM - Verein zur Förderung der Berufsausbildung e.V.
Admission to Career Day is free. Further information can be found here.
