Supporting committed and talented young people in their studies - that is the aim of the Deutschlandstipendien. Today, 69 students at the University of Oldenburg received this special funding. "The Deutschlandstipendien scholarships enable the sponsored students to concentrate even more on their studies and to further advance their academic and academic appointments," said Prof Dr Gunilla Budde, Vice President for Studies and Teaching at the University, at the scholarship award ceremony. The awarding of the Deutschlandstipendien would not be possible without the numerous sponsors, emphasised Budde. "We would like to thank you for your continued commitment to the university and its students in the fourth year of awarding scholarships." As in previous years, many supporters attended the ceremony alongside the scholarship holders and their families.

The Deutschlandstipendium is worth 300 euros per month and lasts for one year. Half of the sum comes from the federal government if the university succeeds in raising the other half from private donors.

A total of 392 students applied for a Deutschlandstipendium at the University of Oldenburg. The selection of scholarship holders was not only based on outstanding credits, as stipulated by the federal government. The committee also explicitly considered students who take on family responsibilities alongside their studies - such as bringing up children or caring for a relative.
