Great interest in renewable energies in South Africa
With a view to future co-operation with South Africa, Prof. Dr Joachim Peinke, head of the Hydrodynamics and Wind Energy working group, and Michael Golba from the Energy and Semiconductor Research working group travelled to the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elisabeth at the end of February. There, the two Oldenburg researchers met with great interest in working together. As a general discussion on energy is currently underway in South Africa, the public evening lecture attracted a great deal of media attention. There were extensive reports about the Oldenburg physicists' visit both on the radio and on the 8 p.m. news programme on South African television.
