Germanischer Lloyd (GL) is recognising the best ideas for the wind industry with a young talent award, which is being presented in co-operation with ForWind. The "GL Wind Energy Award for Young Professionals" will be presented for the first time this year for outstanding final theses by students.
How can the electricity generated by offshore wind turbines be transported to the end consumer without major losses? What developments are there in firefighting for wind turbines? How can offshore turbines be effectively protected against corrosion? - Students who deal with questions such as these in their Diplom, Bachelor's, Master's or degree theses can apply for the prize. The three best theses will be honoured with cash prizes of €5,000, €2,500 and €1,000. Individual or team theses of at least 30 pages can be submitted. Both students and former students who were enrolled at their universities up to a year ago can take part. The deadline for submissions is 31 December 2009 and the winners will be announced in March 2010.
