Renewable energies were on the agenda of a delegation of 23 experts from US universities and research institutions who visited the University of Oldenburg on 7 and 8 December. The "DAAD Information Tour 2009", organised by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), began its stay in Germany in Oldenburg to find out about the university's diverse activities, particularly in the field of wind energy.
Prof. Dr Joachim Peinke, physicist and Director of ForWind, the Centre for Wind Energy Research at the Universities of Oldenburg, Bremen and Hanover, explained the main topics and work projects of the research network and presented the research concepts of COAST - Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research at the university. The agenda also included discussions on opportunities for cooperation in the field of wind energy research. In addition, an intensive exchange took place with representatives and students of the international postgraduate programme Renewable Energy (PPRE) and the Master's programme EUREC.
