DFG Funding Ranking 2009
The German Research Foundation (DFG) has now published its report on public funding for universities, institutes and networks in German. The report reflects the changes in the German science system, which is increasingly characterised by competition and structural differentiation. Universities are taking on more and more responsibility and must therefore develop a profile that is as distinctive as possible.
Competitive project funding from the DFG, the federal and state governments, in particular
as part of the Excellence Initiative, but also other funding bodies such as the EU, have driven and supported this process. In analysing and presenting this development - as reflected in the light of third-party funded research - the DFG Funding Ranking has now become a permanent institution.
