The "Day of Physics" on Wednesday, 28 October 2009, on the Wechloy campus of the University of Oldenburg offers a varied and exciting programme. This is aimed at secondary school pupils and teachers as well as parents and other interested parties who would like to find out more about the subject.

This year's "Day of Physics" is all about space travel. It begins at 9.15 a.m. with a guided tour of the Institute's research laboratories. After the award ceremony for outstanding research projects by pupils from the region, Dr Rainer Reuter will give a lecture on "Remote Sensing of the Earth" at 10.45 am. This will be followed by further laboratory tours and a presentation of the physics degree programmes and Oldenburg's research activities. Prof Dr Andreas Engel will then give an insight into theoretical physics and talk about the "Physics of the Moon Landing".

At the end of the "Day of Physics", graduates will report on their career entry and their first academic appointments.
