On 3 November 2010, more than 800 pupils and teachers from the entire northwest region took advantage of the University of Oldenburg's offer to find out more about the subjects of mathematics and physics. The 13th"Day of Physics" and the 10th "Day of Mathematics" took place in parallel for the tenth time this year. Fourteen pupils who had taken part in the 2010 subject paper competition received book prizes donated by scientific book publishers. The physics presentations focussed on the topics "Our sun - bright energy for the earth" and "Our universe - full of dark energy". In addition, the Institute of Physics and the Institute of Mathematics demonstrated with field reports, experiments and a poster exhibition that both subjects are attractive, fun and offer very good career prospects.
