The "Germany - Land of Ideas" initiative honours the wind energy technology and management further education course as a "Selected Landmark 2010". On 12 February 2010, the initiators of the course accepted the plaque of honour in Oldenburg. The course is offered by ForWind, the centre for wind energy research, in co-operation with the Windenergie-Agentur Bremerhaven / Bremen e.V. (WAB), the University of Oldenburg and the City of Oldenburg.

Christian Wolff from Deutsche Bank Oldenburg presented the plaque as a project partner of the "365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas" competition. "The course is the only academic further education programme in German designed specifically for the wind industry. The programme thus meets the growing demand for specialists in renewable energies," he said, explaining the reasons for the award.

Dr Stephan Barth, Managing Director of ForWind, expressed his thanks for the award: "The award confirms the success of the programme and shows that the course sets standards in academic appointments for further education." When the plaque of honour was presented, it was also pointed out once again that Oldenburg has been focusing on innovative fields for a long time. "Research into renewable energies has a long tradition at our university and is one of its core competences - as is part-time further education. The 'Windstudium' combines both profitably and ensures the training of highly qualified young people in an area that is important for the future," said Prof Dr Mathias Wickleder, Vice President for Studies and Teaching at the University of Oldenburg.
To mark the award, the initiators of the degree programme are hosting a public event in Bremerhaven on 12 March. The lecture at t.i.m.e.Port 2 and the subsequent excursion will be organised under the motto "Wind energy you can touch". Over 2,200 research institutes, companies, cultural institutions and social initiatives applied for the award. An independent jury selected the 365 winners. This year's patron of Germany's largest series of events is once again Federal President Horst Köhler.
