Prof. Dr.-Ing. Timo Gerkmann, previously a postdoctoral researcher at the Sound and Image Processing Lab at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (Sweden), is the new Assistant Professor of Speech Processing at the Institute of Physics at the University of Oldenburg. Gerkmann studied electrical engineering and information technology at the Universities of Bremen and Bochum. He worked as a research assistant in Bochum, where he completed his doctorate in 2010 and spent six months on a research stay at the Siemens Corporate Research centre in Princeton (USA). Gerkmann's research focus is on speech enhancement systems, modelling speech signals and hearing aid applications.
