KinderUniversität: billowing waves, flying vehicles and cool crystals - physics at minus 190 degrees Celsius
The KinderUni students don't have to dress warmly when the lecture on physics at low temperatures takes place on Wednesday, 30 March 2011 at 4.30 pm in the Audimax of the lecture hall centre. It will only be extremely cold on stage during the KinderUni lecture "Billowing waves, flying vehicles, cool crystals" with physicist Prof Dr Achim Kittel. Young students aged eight to twelve can see for themselves that burning "snow", fake ice and shrinking balloons are not magic, but sound science - in which things can hiss, boil and crash quite violently.
Remaining tickets for the lecture are available at a price of 2 euros from Nordwest Ticket GmbH on 0421/363636 and 01805/361136 (14 ct/min.) as well as from the NWZ offices.
Admission to the lecture theatre centre on Uhlhornsweg is at 4.00 pm. Accompanying adults can follow the event as usual on a screen in the foyer of the building. The Malteser Hilfsdienst will provide security on site.
