Martin Holthaus elected new Dean of School V
Prof Dr Martin Holthaus, Professor of Theoretical Physics, has been elected Dean of School V - School of Mathematics and Science.
Holthaus studied physics in Münster and Bonn and received his doctorate in 1990. After a research stay at the University of California (USA), he completed his habilitation at the University of Marburg in 1996. Before Holthaus accepted the call to Oldenburg in 2000, he was a university lecturer at the University of Munich. His research focus is the theory of condensed matter, in particular the quantum mechanics of ultracold atoms and near-field thermal radiation. The physicist Prof Dr Jürgen Parisi and the biologists Prof Dr Georg Klump and Prof Dr Meinhard Simon were elected Vice-Deans of School V.
