Hearing researcher Steffen Kortlang wins "groschen" science prize

Oldenburg, 13.07.2012. Science can be easy to understand. This was proven yesterday by five young scientists at the LzO headquarters in Oldenburg in the final round of the €10,000 LzO prize for science communication "groschen".

The candidates Thomas Greve, Christian Horneber, Steffen Kortlang, Dorthe Lamers and Katharina Remer each had eight minutes to present their research as clearly and impressively as possible.

In the end, Steffen Kortlang, a member of the Medical Physics department at the University of Oldenburg, won the coveted prize with his presentation on sorting acoustic signals to improve hearing aid technology. He also won the €500 Audience Award.
