HUSUM WindEnergy 2012
HUSUM WindEnergy 2012: ForWind offers workshop on European study programmes
Oldenburg/Husum, 14 August 2012
The European wind energy industry is in urgent need of excellent specialists, but at the same time there are only a few defined and generally established qualification programmes for wind energy. The challenges for programme providers and hiring companies are enormous:
Universities, which traditionally have a disciplinary focus, are looking for ways to design study programmes that do justice to the multi-layered, cross-disciplinary tasks in the wind industry. In addition, resources urgently need to be created in order to train the required number of specialists.
Companies are faced with the task of defining their personnel requirements, particularly in terms of qualifications, and orientating themselves in view of the still confusing range of courses on offer.
Against this background, ForWind, the centre for wind energy research at the universities of Oldenburg, Hanover and Bremen, is offering a workshop on English-language academic qualification opportunities in the field of wind energy for the first time.
The event will bring together the requirements of tomorrow's specialists with the leading English-language study programmes. The presentations will outline the expectations of industry and research as well as the academic programmes on offer. These include undergraduate programmes, continuing education courses and doctoral programmes. In the discussion, the most important challenges for companies and study programme providers will be identified.
The workshop will take place on Tuesday, 18 September 2012 from 14:00 to 16:45 as part of the HUSUM WindEnergy congress programme.
ForWind is the centre for wind energy research at the universities of Oldenburg, Hanover and Bremen. In its research, ForWind covers a broad spectrum of engineering and physical sciences and provides scientific support for industrially oriented projects. ForWind is involved in the further education of subjects and managers, organises public lecture series, seminars and workshops and ensures the transfer of knowledge to industry, politics and the public.
