Peinke becomes EAWE President
Peinke appointed President of the European Academy for Wind Energy
Oldenburg. Prof. Dr Joachim Peinke, university lecturer in physics and board member of ForWind, the centre for wind energy research at the universities of Oldenburg, Hanover and Bremen, was recently appointed President of the European Academy of Wind Energy (EAWE) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH).
EAWE is an association supported by research centres and universities conducting research on wind energy. The aim is to network, coordinate and promote research, teaching and development throughout Europe. A total of 35 institutions from eleven European Union countries belong to the EAWE. This makes it the largest academic association for wind energy research.
Peinke, who was appointed to the University of Oldenburg in 1998, studied physics in Tübingen, where he gained his doctorate and habilitation. He then worked at the Institute for Low Temperature Physics (C.N.R.S.) in Grenoble, France, with a research grant from the German Research Foundation (DFG). Peinke was a DFG Heisenberg scholarship holder and conducted research as a research assistant at the Institute of Physics at the University of Bayreuth. Since January 2012, the physicist has been Head of the Dynamics and Statistical Physics Section of the German Physical Society (DGP).
