The offshore wind study programme is a joint project of ForWind - Centre for Wind Energy Research at the Universities of Oldenburg, Hanover and Bremen, the wind energy agency WAB and the City of Oldenburg. It is financially supported by Bremer Landesbank, nkt cables GmbH, Nordwest Assekuranzmakler GmbH & Co. KG and Siemens AG.

New offshore wind study programme starts in September

Oldenburg, 1 July 2013 - The new course of the Offshore Wind Study Programme 2013/14 starts in September and the places still available will be allocated from now on after receipt and examination of the applications.
The part-time and interdisciplinary offshore wind degree programme offers employees and career changers in offshore wind energy a unique course of study. Within 10 months, students receive an overview of the topic of offshore wind from A to Z. They apply their theoretical knowledge in practical case studies. Not only they, but also the companies benefit from the large alumni network even after graduation. The programme is aimed at all companies in the industry that are directly or indirectly involved in offshore wind projects, such as energy suppliers, turbine manufacturers, suppliers, shipping companies, banks and insurance companies.
The aim of the study programme is to bring together different professional groups and perspectives in order to make offshore wind energy projects comprehensible in their entirety. The programme is therefore aimed at civil engineers as well as nautical engineers, business economists or professionals from sales or marketing. "The interdisciplinarity - of both fellow students and lecturers - is a real strength of this degree programme," says a former participant, "I benefited from it during my studies and have also benefited greatly in my everyday working life."
The course content covers all relevant offshore wind energy topics, including the approval, financing, technical components, logistics and operation of an offshore wind farm. The lecturers and authors of the course materials come from both theoretical and practical backgrounds and impart well-founded and practically relevant specialist knowledge. In addition, the participants work in teams on realistic case studies on the project management of offshore wind farms - they contribute their own expertise and learn from each other. Upon successful completion of the programme, participants receive a certificate from the University of Oldenburg.
