Wind study programme enters its eighth round

Nationwide successful study programmes represented at WINDFORCE 2013 - applications until 30 June.

Oldenburg. Almost 200 subjects and managers in the wind energy industry as well as career changers have taken advantage of the part-time courses offered at the University of Oldenburg, the further education programme in Wind Energy Technology and Management (Wind Studies for short) or the new Continuing Studies Programme Offshore Wind Energy (Offshore Wind Studies for short), to advance their careers. From autumn 2013, the wind study programme, which has been established for seven years and focuses on onshore wind energy, will be offered for the eighth time, while the offshore wind study programme will be offered for the second time.

During WINDFORCE 2013, which took place from 4 to 6 June in Bremerhaven, both courses were presented to the interested public.

The Wind Studies and Offshore Wind Studies programmes are aimed at subjects and managers from both sectors as well as career changers from other industries. They provide interdisciplinary subject and orientation knowledge that enables graduates to understand and competently accompany wind energy projects in all their complexity.

Recognised industry experts from science and industry cover the entire range of relevant topics. These range from science and technology, economics, law, planning, contract set-up and project management to the special challenges of maritime technologies, harbour infrastructure and logistics in the offshore sector

Students acquire in-depth system knowledge by means of exclusively written study letters for self-study and in face-to-face seminars with the experts. In project work in interdisciplinary groups on the planning of a wind farm, they have the opportunity to apply and test this knowledge in a realistic way. Within 11 or 10 months, students acquire important skills to successfully organise onshore or offshore wind farm projects.

Further information on the study programmes and application documents for one of the 24 limited study places can be found at www.windstudium.de and www.offshore-wind-studies.com. Applications can be submitted until 30 June 2013.

The Wind Studies and Offshore Wind Studies are joint projects of ForWind - Centre for Wind Energy Research at the Universities of Oldenburg, Hanover and Bremen, the Wind Energy Agency WAB e.V. and the City of Oldenburg.

The wind study programme is financially supported by GE Wind Energy GmbH, Bremer Landesbank and WSB Service GmbH. The offshore wind study programme is financially supported by Bremer Landesbank, nkt cables GmbH, Nordwest Assekuranzmakler GmbH & Co KG and Siemens AG.
