zukunftsenergien nordwest 2013 Demand for skilled labour

High demand for skilled workers at zukunftsenergien nordwest on 1 and 2 March in Bremen

More than 400 job offers at the job fair for renewable energies and a workshop on personnel development show the demand

Bremen, 01 March 2013: zukunftsenergien nordwest - Germany's largest job fair for renewable energies - opened its doors today in Hall 7 of the Bremen Exhibition Centre. Bremen's Senator for the Environment Dr Joachim Lohse and Vice President for Research at the University of Oldenburg Prof Dr Katharina Al-Shamery took part in the opening ceremony.

More than 1,000 visitors to the trade fair used the morning to talk to the HR managers of the top employers at the trade fair stand. More than 400 job vacancies will be available to visitors on Friday and Saturday at the job walls and exhibition stands, demonstrating the existing demand for personnel in the renewable energy sector.

In the fourth year of the event, 79 exhibitors will be presenting the variety of job offers in the sector and providing information on occupational fields and qualification opportunities at zukunftsenergien nordwest 2013 on 1 and 2 March. The exhibitors are 52 companies and 27 providers from universities, training and further education, networks and institutions. Wind energy is the sector with the greatest growth potential, with around 46 per cent of exhibitors coming from this sector. The solar sector is represented by around 17 per cent of exhibitors at the trade fair, bioenergy by over 13 per cent and energy efficiency by more than 24 per cent. The trade fair therefore covers the entire spectrum of the industry.

During the first personnel workshop at zukunftsenergien nordwest on Thursday evening, current personnel policy issues were discussed following presentations by Prof Dr Thomas Breisig and personnel coach Carsten Gelrich. There was a consensus among the participants about the upcoming challenges facing the industry. Increasing demand for skilled labour coupled with a shortage of skilled workers will lead to an upgrading of the HR function in companies in the sector. Major efforts will be required to recruit and retain employees.

As an industry platform, the two-day trade fair offers workshops, specialist presentations and excursions, providing comprehensive information on starting a career and highlighting career paths. The new trade fair offers, such as the application portfolio check and professional application photos, have been very well received. With these additional offers, the trade fair has met the needs of the visitors and thus completed the trade fair programme.
