Our students got a rare hands-on opportunity: measuring the efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) modules manufactured in 1976 as part of their studies in the Postgraduate Programmes in Renewable Energy (PPRE) at the University of Oldenburg.
Our students f had the unique opportunity to test PV modules produced in 1976, now 49 years old, to evaluate their current efficiency.
The project, conducted in collaboration with Sandra Bellekom and using shared equipment from Hanze University, allowed students to combine practical experimentation with historical technology analysis. This exercise provided insights into the long-term performance and durability of early photovoltaic modules, bridging past innovations with modern renewable energy research.
The hands-on experience highlights the program’s commitment to practical learning, technical skill development, and applied research in the field of solar energy.
