As part of the Medical Informatics Initiative, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research is funding a programme that brings together all of Germany's university hospitals, research institutions, companies, health insurance companies and patient representatives to work together on the development of framework conditions. The aim of the funding measure is to improve the utilisation of data from patient care and research in order to strengthen and improve patient care in the long term.
Within the medical informatics initiative, the interoperability working group forms the platform for the participating consortia to coordinate concrete steps. The platform forms the basis for formulating and planning the achievement of interoperability and the coordination processes for achieving interoperability between the data integration centres.
In regular meetings and telephone conferences, the members of the working group coordinate, task forces are formed and documents are prepared for coordination in the National Steering Committee.
