Equality and Discrimination in the EU legal order
Equality and Discrimination in the EU legal order
Head: Prof Dr Dagmar Schiek, Victoria Chege
Without the possibility of structured networking with the other research focuses of the ZFG, individual research activities have developed in Law that fall within the thematic area of the ZFG (and are linked to the centre through membership). The starting point for this individual research area was research into the law on equal opportunities for women and men in Germany and the EU, which was developed into the research area "Equality and Protection against Discrimination in EU Law and Comparative Law". The research focus on Gender Equality Law (with two commentaries on the "Second Equal Rights Act in the Private Sector", 1995, and on "Women's Equality Laws of the Federal and State Governments", 2nd edition 2002) developed into a research focus on "Multidimensional Aspects of Equality and Diversity in Law and Legal Theory" in line with recent developments in feminist jurisprudence and Law research on equality and discrimination in the context of European integration. In May 2007, the "First European Conference on Multidimensional Equality Law in Interdisciplinary Perspective" took place, in which Dr Lydia Potts was also involved. Victoria Chege's doctorate was part of this research programme.
