Publications

Publications
With the publication of two series, the ZFG regularly supports the publication of new research results from the field of gender studies and thus actively participates in the scientific discourse and the link to non-university practice. In line with the ZFG's self-image, both series are interdisciplinary in nature and include contributions from different disciplines with a variety of methodological approaches. In particular, the ZFG also promotes the work of young researchers through its editorship.
Studies in interdisciplinary gender research
In autumn 2002, the Centre for Interdisciplinary Women's and Gender Studies at the University of Oldenburg (ZFG) and the Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Bremen (ZGS) launched a joint publication series, first published by Leske & Budrich, then by VS-Verlag für Sozialwissenschaften and since 2009 by transcript-Verlag, Bielefeld under the title
Studien interdisziplinäre Geschlechterforschung.
The worldwide transformations of gender relations and attributions of meaning to "gender" show contradictory developments, continuities and changes. The changes in old segmentation lines and the contours of new ones are in a complex relationship of tension with one another.
The series Studien interdisziplinäre Geschlechterforschung (Studies in Interdisciplinary Gender Research) regularly presents new studies in this subject area. The wide range of possible approaches is taken into account: natural, technical, social and cultural science perspectives are linked together and the approaches systematically combine the structuring significance of the category "gender" with the effect of other lines of social difference such as "class", ethnicity", "race" and "generation".
The series gives space to perspectives in which the radical questioning of the heterosexual and gender-based social order is at the centre and underlying power relations are reflected upon.
The aim of the series is to publish academic contributions that address questions of gender constructions and gender relations in culture, society and science and provide impetus for further debate. The aim is to address all those interested in women's and gender studies from the university and wider academic environment - students, teachers and researchers. At the same time, the publications are also of interest to those practitioners who take a critical look at the gender-related nature of culture, technology, science and society.
