Beschreibung
This course provides an introduction to the sociology of science. We will explore science as a social field in which the production of knowledge and claims to truth are intertwined. We will discuss the historical origins of this process, the development of key institutions such as universities, and the significance of the social and spatial contexts of science. What actually happens in laboratories? How can scientific findings be communicated? What happens in the event of conflicts, for example with the political sphere? And how does society view science? Which representations of science shape its public image? These and other questions will be discussed during the seminar.
