For 20 years, the Institute for Economics Education (IÖB) at the University of Oldenburg has been committed to promoting economics education. The IÖB team is opening its doors at Bismarckstr. 31 and invites all interested parties to take a look behind the scenes.
"Those who know nothing must believe everything", as the Austrian writer Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach aptly put it. This applies in particular to basic economic relationships. Economically illiterate people have to believe and trust other people when it comes to economic issues. However, this can go wrong, because those who know little or nothing about economic life situations may miss out on opportunities (e.g. when building up assets or choosing a career) or face risks (e.g. excessive debt or poverty in old age). Economics Education is therefore not just a specialised education for financial market players, business people or auditors. It is relevant for everyone to be able to cope with life and understand the world.
The Institute for Economics Education (IÖB) at the University of Oldenburg has been pursuing the goal of good basic economics education for as many people as possible for 20 years now. In more than 20 research and development projects in co-operation with schools, teachers, foundations, entrepreneurs, etc., the Institute of Economic Education (IÖB) has been working towards this goal. The guided tour of the IÖB offers all interested parties an insight into the diverse project work from AI-supported teaching to the connections between business and ethics to the regional projects in co-operation with Oldenburg's business community.
