5 weeks "core time"

  • 25 hours per week, be present at the placement school for 5 hours per day on all days of the week
  • Complete the tasks on the cumulative course result sheet (classroom and extracurricular compulsory + compulsory elective tasks)
  • Create an overview of the internship for the ASP portfolio

Follow-up days

  • Obtain signatures

The practical phase is of course at the centre of the ASP module - now you can finally "get a taste" of everyday practice and try things out!

Requirements for the practical phase

In order to be able to complete the practical phase, you must first

  • have attended the courses (lecture & preparatory seminar) in the ASP module and have actively participated in them,
  • have registered for the ASP examination,
  • have been allocated an internship placement or have looked for one yourself,
  • have agreed an exact internship period with your internship school and
  • have applied for / received all necessary documents and, if applicable, vaccinations; please find out more about this here.

Allocation / search for the internship school

The internship school is usually assigned to you by the DiZ; you can find more information on location preferences etc. at uol.de/schulpraktikum. You will then be informed in the course of the summer semester which school you have been allocated to.

If you would like to look for a school yourself, please follow the guidelines of the DiZ, which you can find on uol.de/diz/studium-und-lehre/praktika-im-lehramtsstudium/informationen-fuer-studierende/praktikumsanmeldung under "Informationen zur Selbstsuche", and contact your DiZ clerk if necessary. Please note, however: The internship cannot be completed at the school where you graduated! (Rare exception: The DIZ could only assign you to this school - but under no circumstances can you search for yourself at your former school).

As soon as you have received your school assignment, please contact the school as soon as possible to find out the exact internship period and any other important information.

The internship phase can also be completed at a school abroad; you can find out what you need to consider at the DiZ at uol.de/diz/studium-und-lehre/praktika-im-lehramtsstudium/auslandspraktika.

Time and duration of the practical phase

The ASP is carried out once a year (after the summer holidays; usually in August/September/October). The school (!) decides on the start of the internship (e.g. on the first day of school after the holidays, at the beginning of the first full week of school, one or two weeks after the start of school), taking into account school requirements. Many schools can only decide at short notice exactly when the internship should begin.

Therefore, please keep the entire period between the start of school and the beginning of the autumn holidays free and do not book any holidays or similar.

The core period is 5 weeks. In addition, there are preparatory and follow-up visits to the school; this results in a total internship period of 6 weeks. You must be present at the school every day during the five weeks of work placement (25 hours at school = 5 days of 5 hours each)!
