University Information Day (HIT)
University Information Day (HIT)
The Library and Information System (BIS) is located on both campuses of the university, the Haarentor campus and the Wechloy campus. While the holdings of the Haarentor campus central library cover all subject areas, the Wechloy departmental library focuses on supporting the natural sciences subject areas located in Wechloy.
On the University Information Day, we cordially invite all pupils and prospective students to explore the BIS virtually or on site.
Guided tours on site:
Haarentor campus: 9:30 a.m. / 10:30 a.m. / 11:30 a.m. / 12:30 p.m. / 1:30 p.m.
Wechloy campus: 9:30 a.m. / 12:30 p.m.
Searching and finding
Our ORBISplus search portal offers an introduction to researching the holdings of Oldenburg University Library, Oldenburg State Library and the libraries of Jade University. In addition to books and journals, you will also find other types of media and have access to many electronic resources and databases.
If the University Library does not have the literature you are looking for, it can be submitted as an acquisition proposal or ordered from another library via interlibrary loan.
A look at the bookshelf
The books in the University Library are organised by subject. To find a book, you need a so-called shelfmark. This can be found both in ORBISplus and on the spine of the book. Like an address, it describes the location of the book in the library.

Workstations
In addition to access to our collections, we also offer space to study and work in the library. Quiet individual workstations and carrels, areas for group work and a large number of computer workstations make your studies easier.
Copying and scanning
You can print out documents, make copies or scan at our multifunctional devices. There are special book scanners for scanning book pages.
When you know that you know nothing
We support your studies with advice and guided tours as well as training courses, for example on research or literature management.
If you have any questions, we are there for you on site, by phone and by email. Further information can be found on the BIS homepage.
