Training for pupils in the seminar subject

Online introductions

We offer online training sessions for school classes – ideally as a single session for the whole class of students or several groups – on research for seminar subjects and the use of the university library.

A session lasts approximately 60 minutes. The session covers:

  • Using the university library
  • Searching the library catalogue
  • Preparing a research project by analysing the topic and formulating the research question
  • Search options for citable online resources

The online sessions take place via BigBlueButton, a browser-based platform that does not require registration (privacy policy). We recommend using the latest version of Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. Active participation is possible via microphone or chat. Ideally, pupils should take part in the session as a group in a normal classroom setting, using a smartboard or similar device. Individual participation by pupils using their own devices may be possible upon consultation.

On-site guided tours

The University Library does not offer on-site library induction sessions for pupils. Please make use of our online services instead.

Teachers also have the option of leading their own class on a tour of the library (max. 60 participants). You are welcome to use our DIY tour leaflet as a guide.

Please also register all group visits via our online form . Unregistered groups may be turned away at the entrance.
