In its report on the implementation of the Council's recommendation on the validation of non-formal and informal learning, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) positively emphasises the University of Oldenburg's PLAR service. The PLAR Service (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition) supports professionally qualified students in creating a structured credit portfolio. The introduction of the credit transfer portfolio to document and provide evidence of prior learning has led to a significant increase in the number of credit transfer cases at the University of Oldenburg. The service, which is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK) and the University of Oldenburg, is jointly supported by the Competence Centre for Credit Transfer of School I, the C3L - Centre for Lifelong Learning, Division 3 (Examinations Office) and the Department for Study Affairs.
