Hydrogen Week

C3L presents its programmes for the energy transition at the Kick-off Northwest of the nationwide event.

Together with the H2 Region Emsland and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for East Frisia and Papenburg, the Metropolitan Region Northwest organised the Kick-off Northwest for Hydrogen Week in Werlte on 15 June. Companies and other stakeholders presented themselves and demonstrated the great potential of the region in terms of hydrogen value creation.

In order for H2 to establish itself as a building block of a successful energy transition, around 70,000 qualified subjects and managers will be needed by 2030. Managing Director Tim Zentner explained how C3L is helping to meet this demand with its hydrogen further education programme. At the information stand in Werlte and in conversation with Christian Meyer, Lower Saxony's Minister for the Environment, Energy and Climate Protection, he also presented the wind study programme and the new project Approval Practice for the Energy Transition. Meyer emphasised that Lower Saxony, as the No. 1 energy state, is playing a key role in driving forward the energy transition. Hydrogen is an important link between the generation of renewable energies from wind and solar power and certain industrial applications.

Under the motto "Hydrogen moves the north-west", regional companies presented their latest projects and developments at the Hy2gen AG site in Werlte. From production to storage and transport, the event covered the entire spectrum of the H2 value chain. Exhibitors included: Alterric GmbH, C3L - Centre for Lifelong Learning at the University of Oldenburg, CEC Haren GmbH & Co. KG, DLR - Institute for Networked Energy Systems, Energy Hub Wilhelmshaven, ENGINIUS GmbH, EWE GASSPEICHER GmbH, H2 Ostfriesland, H2.N.O.N, Hy2gen AG, Lindschulte Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, Niedersächsisches Wasserstoffnetzwerk, Oldenburger Energiecluster OLEC, Solarbelt FairFuel gGmbH, STORAG ETZEL and Westenergie. The companies and organisations discussed the latest developments with Lower Saxony's Environment Minister Meyer, the District Administrator of the Emsland district Marc-André Burgdorf, the Deputy Managing Director of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for East Frisia and Papenburg Hartmut Neumann and the First Chair of the Northwest Metropolitan Region Peter Hoffmeyer.
