Prof. Dr Gunther Wittstock, academic advisor for the Bachelor’s degree programme in Chemistry, and Prof. Dr Timm Wilke, programme coordinator for the dual-subject Bachelor’s degree programme in Chemistry, gave a clear and informative presentation at the information session on the range of courses available in Chemistry. As well as covering the formal curriculum and core areas of the degree programmes, they answered questions from the audience and provided insights into individual research projects and future career paths:“The natural sciences, and in particular the insights provided by the subject of chemistry, form the foundation for understanding the laws governing our world. They train us in logical thinking, encourage us to critically examine phenomena and provide answers to the most pressing questions of our time. Whether it’s sustainable energy sources, life-saving medicines, new materials or the fight against climate change – humanity’s global challenges cannot be solved without chemical innovations. Chemistry safeguards our standard of living and drives sustainable change.”
In conclusion, the two professors encouraged those present to follow their enthusiasm for the natural sciences and chemistry. In line with this, they highlighted the chemistry degree programmes at the University of Oldenburg, as well as the numerous opportunities available for prospective students and those interested in the subject.
